Yesterday, the King and I went for a walk in the park by the ocean.

It's something we had never done before.

The lunch started at 1 and ended at 11:30 p.m.

My Sister has Landed.

It's time to cut my last birthday cake for the year.

The Queen Sister arrives tonight.

It's been almost a year since I saw her last.

But I shan't see her tonight.

I shall patiently wait till tomorrow when she comes over for another family brunch where the Queen Father, the Queen Sister and the Queen herself will all together cut the May Birthday Cake.

Today while commenting on a blog, the comment moderation made me type the word 'swimp'.

It made me chuckle and it makes me feel like adding the word to Queendom.

So the next contest is, what should 'swimp' mean in Queendom.

I look at myself in the mirror and lately it seems that I get a new white hair everyday.

I better be one hot looking, white haired Queen or I better find time for my hairstylist before Queen's day.

A Classic Extended Family Luncheon Moment

When my father threatens to throw one of my mother's relatives out of the ninth floor window.

Simply Classic.

People say that families that eat together live happier together or some such thing.

This afternoon there is a large family lunch with the extended family.

And I can't help but predict that it will be one huge Comedy of Errors.

The one thing about a loved one being in a hospital is that your whole existence starts to feel like you are living in a dungeon.

Even the moments you are out, your mind wanders back to that dark space where your loved one is shackled.

Even the food smells and tastes rancid in the dungeon.

I'm happy to be out of the dungeon but have decided to build one in the Queendom.

That'll Be All.

As you all know, my dad was in hospital all of last week.

During this time he was put through a whole bunch of routine check ups for his liver, kidney, heart, prostrate etc.

One afternoon, we were rudely interrupted by the cardiologist who came in to tell us about a heart condition that he had noticed in my father's aortic valve and the right ventricular valve.

He and his assistant starting yelling questions at us and basically gave us no time to grasp the information that he had just shoved down our throat.

He then went on to tell us that while the damage he had noticed was 'moderate', he believed that it was a lot worse and that the 'Echo' test should be re-done. He even went to the extent of insisting on an angiography and starting scheduling it for two days later.

That's when I got ticked off and basically told him no such procedures would be scheduled until the echo was re-done and a second opinion was sought.

So, my dad was re-wheeled to the Echo department where the head of cardiology over-looked the echo test himself. The report came back - 'Moderate'.

Cut to the day of discharge. The Cardiologist comes back once again and requests for further investigation. At this time my parents are reading an article about youngsters being 'Young, stressed and under attack'.

What came next was something I never imagined.

I was emotionally threatened and sent for an Echo test 30 minutes later.

The head of cardiology came and probed and prodded on my bare breast.
Stared at the screen and said, "She's fine"
And *poof*, he was gone leaving me skipping over the moon.

One long week later - One peaceful night sleep.

My dad is getting better and I am overwhelmed by a sense of Gratitude.

Yesterday while I was at hospital, I bumped into an old friend that I really am not in touch with anymore.

She was admitting her father into hospital too.

And suddenly we are talking 3 - 4 times a day just to be of support to one another.

Guess the passage of time doesn't matter after all.

My emotions seem to be getting the better of me today.

Not good.

He sat up in bed and yelled at me :)))

It's been a whirlwind of emotions the last 36 hours
He seems to be getting a bit better but the complications and investigations continue

Yesterday I felt like I was in an episode of Greys Anatomy

It's been a terrible night and I barely slept a wink.

That's what happens when you have to hospitalise your dad suddenly.

But guess what...

I'm Back :)

Thank you all so much for remembering me and asking me to come back

Things have been different the last couple of months.
As you know I quit my job in February and have been home since.

People / Friends constantly ask me how I pass my time and whether I am ready to pull the hair out of my head...and the honest truth is I am not bored at all...I love the fact that I have time for myself to do things that I never had time to do before - Staring at the fan being one of them :)

In a nutshell, I am loving the sabbatical and the time it gives me to myself.
